As resources become increasingly scarce, water shortage is one issue many countries face. It has been a cause of conflict in various countries where water is scarce. Hence, in order to raise awareness of the importance of water conservation, International World Water Day was started in 1993. It serves to remind us that water is a precious resource that needs to be conserved for future generations. As a country with almost no natural resources, Singapore aims to be self-sufficient in terms of water resources. Singapore implements the “4 National Taps” strategy to ensure that Singapore always has a stable supply of water.
